Traveling is much on my mind these days. The other day I got to thinking about visiting my sister last year, in Puerto Rico. It was fantastic! The beach has always played a big part in our family--from our days on the coast of Maine, to the south Pacific beaches of Ecuador, so getting to visit Cheryl was a double dip of home for me. So, I indulged myself and took a mini virtual vacation by going through my pictures from Puerto Rico. I loved it!! here's some highlights from that virtual vacation. ;-)

The Beach...

My first glimpse...

Pirates Cove...
This place made my imagination run wild.

This is where you'll find me. Right there under that palm tree...that is, if I'm not at Pirate's Cove.

Toward the end of a great day spent on the beach. One last glimpse...

Can't get away? Turn on your fave music and virtually visit somewhere. Is it as good as a real, in-person visit? No. But it sure beats nothing! Worked for me. By the time I reached the last pictures of that photo file I was smiling and relaxed, ready to forge ahead in the here-and-now of my life. It was time well spent for me.

What about you? Where do you like to virtually visit when you just can't get there in real life?

  1. I love the beach! My only memories, however, are lake beaches because I've lived landlocked my entire life. I've been to the Atlantic and the Gulf but never to the Pacific Ocean and I long to visit it. I love water, swimming, boating--any water sport, really. I have a friend who is native to Puerto Rico and he's terrified of water. Can you imagine living by all that water and not knowing how to swim? Awful! I hear it's similar in England, too. Living on an island yet no one can swim. Tragic. I love Lake Michigan so much because I like looking across the water and seeing nothing but water. I must have sailors somewhere in my DNA. Beautiful pictures, Patty!

    1. I cannot imagine being surrounded by water like that and not knowing how to swim! I'm not one who enjoys being in the water but I dearly love the beach! The Pacific is beautiful. It's different than the Atlantic.

    1. Yes, that beach feeling! It gets hold of me and doesn't let go until I virtually visit.

  3. I'm a beach girl myself. Born in Florida, I've been spoiled by the sugar white beaches and nothing else compares. The three years I lived landlocked in Germany were pure torture with no salt air to breathe.

  4. The beach would be a lot nicer without the sand and saltwater. :)

We lived in Orlando for 3 or 4 years and I think we went to the beach maybe 10 times? And that was mostly to watch the space shuttle launches.

Give me the mountains any day! Beautiful pictures though!

    1. LoL, Tom. If you take away the sand and saltwater you're left with nothing!! Too funny. And it just blows my mind. But I sure do understand the mountains! Until I got married if I wasn't at the ocean I was high in the mountains. Dearly love both of them.

  7. Gorgeous pics, Patty! I'm not a beach kind of girl, really. I'm more of a mountain girl myself. But, I guess I'm going to have to get used to the beach... my oldest daughter, son-in-law, and "Baby Abe" are moving to Louisiana in a few months! :-( But hey, it's all good! I hear that the lowest temp in January is 62! According to my husband, "that's good bike riding weather!" So, the BEACH it will be for us pretty soon! LoL!

  8. Your beautiful pictures remind me of the coastal drive we took from Portland, OR to Washington a few years ago. I could really get into becoming a beach bum, especially in these scenes. Thanks for sharing!
