I Quit!

Sometimes I say those words and carry through on them. Yes, I know that can be considered blasphemous by some, but really, quitting can be good. Other times though, ay yi yi, they can be bad, very bad!

This time of year—November and December, I tend to assess my life and see what needs changing. What’s working and what’s not. It’s a time for looking behind me then looking forward. I have a tendency to keep piling things on, so that means there’s a surplus of stuff in my life. Some of it needs to be gotten rid of and there’s bound to be a few things I need to get rid of, to quit.

And that brings me back to quitting. The key is to quit the right things at the right time. And therein lies the rub.

So tell me, how do you decide what to quit and when?

  1. Great minds think alike for I also did a quit post. . I think quitting is more an "I give up" for me. It's more of a personal declaration rather than just letting an activity or behavior go gently into the night.

    1. =] I LOVE the poem you posted, Barb. It's fantastic. =] And such an excellent reminder!

I agree with you. Some of my Quits are declarations. Needed ones sometimes. LoL

  2. This is SUCH a tough one for me! (and you, of all people, ABSOLUTELY know that LOL) I pray. I talk to people who know me. I agonize. I change my mind precisely 123,432 times. And then I quit - maybe.

In general, I try to think of it less as quitting and more as taking on new challenges or making room for "better" (cuz most of that time, that's the issue).

    Thanks for this :)

    1. =] Yes, this is a tough one for you, JoDear. but you're right, often the quitting is making the choice to make room for the better and best. And THAT's what I'm after. I don't want cling to things that need to be let go of, things that weigh me down and side-track me. And YOU know how easily I get side tracked. LoL =]

  3. Sidetracked...just reading your answer to Joanne...that's how I get when I have too much on my pl...SQUIRREL! ~ Seriously though... how I know when I should maybe quit some things is when those things are causing me undo amounts of stress...

  4. There are probably a ton of things I need to quit. One of them is procrastinating housework. I'd rather be writing!

  5. I agree. There are times we must quit things - and if you ask God - He'll show you what you need to quit - but be prepared - quitting things He asks us to quit sometimes makes life harder. There are hidden lessons in quitting. Great post! Made me think!
