He Quiets Me

Each week at Living by Grace, a devotional discussion Facebook group, we post a memory verse and this week's is one that I recently refound.

The LORD your God is with you,
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

Each line is filled with promise and comfort and as I memorized it the other day, it was truly wonderful to meditate on each line.

When I got to "He will quiet you with His love," I thought of my husband. Some days have been enough to set my teeth on edge and many other nasty things, but the moment I just hear my husband's van pull into the driveway, I feel myself settling. Other days, I feel like my frantic button is jammed and those days my husband's love truly quiets me. All my fuming and fretting and fury, his loves soothes and quiets. This is what I picture when I quote that line--God's love quieting me. No matter how extreme the situation.

So tell me, which line comforts you the most right now? Which promise encourages you on?

  1. I love that He delights in me! Me? There are days I don't even delight in myself, but knowing that He does...well, it quiets me and overwhelms me into a deep gratefulnes. It renews me and reminds me that I have a purpose. I'm special. I mean something. I'm delighted in.

And that, is a beautiful thing!

  2. This has been one of my favorite verses for a while. My God rejoices over me with singing ~ how amazing is that? I love the picture you painted of your husband quieting you with his love, like God does with His Love.
Stopping by from WFW. Many blessings!

  5. This whole verse makes me rejoice.
He is with me, He saves me, He gives me joy, He fills me with His peace, and how precious is that He rejoices over me with singing.

He knows all my struggles and all my weaknesses and yet He does all of this, what an awesome God we are privileged to serve!

  7. I love your opening statement about yourself:

"Since Patty quit running from God's call on her life and surrendered her pen to Him, she's been happy."

I can so relate to that!

Love the verse, too! What an amazing portion of scripture.

  10. That IS a beautiful passage! The "He is mighty to save" reminds me of one of my favorite songs, which I think is called that: "Mighty to Save"

  11. I'm appreciating the "mighty to save" as I've been praying extra for some unsaved beloveds, some tough trials, AND I love the sweet praise and worship hymn song with those words. I'll have them in my mind as I head to bed. Thank you :)
