Horrendous Harmony

Welcome to this week's a 2 z: Take 2
and the letter H.

I have to admit, I cannot carry a tune. Now, if there's a strong voice right behind me, I have a chance of coming close, but without it? I'm sunk.

There's a pair of sisters in my church that make me sound good. Very good. I like that. The problem comes when they sit beside me or even worse, behind me. When that happens, we have a 3 part harmony going and I so pity the people around us. It's truly horrendous.

I laugh about it, but it's a great reminder to me...

Who am I harmonizing with in my life?

What voices am I standing around?

What voices am I willingly standing in front of?

Am I filling my head and my heart with God's Word?

Am I spending time with my Christian brothers and sisters?

Hmmmm. Something to think about as I harmonize with the voices around me in church next time.

Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals." ~I Corinthians 15:30

The goal is heavenly harmonies. Not horrendous harmonies.

If you're joining us for the a2z: Take 2 meme by posting on your blog this week about the letter H, be sure to add your name and the link to that particular post in the linky gadget here.

  1. Haha, I have a horrible ear, too. I love to sing and I have an okay voice, but I don't know if I'm on or not. Good message from it!

BTW, you forgot Mr. Linky. ;-) My "H" post is http://sparrowsflight10.blogspot.com/2012/02/a2z-take-2-give-me-your-love-for.html

  2. I can harmonize when I can hear those around me and blend in. On my own? Not so much....lesson to be learned: listen carefully to be in sweet music with others.

  4. I laugh because my husband is a gifted singer and as an unbelieving teen used to church hop just to sing. People think because I married someone good at singing, I must sing too. I keep that for playing Wii with the kids. :)

But it's a good message about voices around me. Thanks, Patty!

I'm excited to post on time for a change.

  5. HaHa Patty.

Those of us who can carry a tune and learned to ignore those who can't (at least I have and I've had lots of practice, a certain person in my home makes a joyful noise).

But you know what I believe? God thinks we all sing beautifully-if we sing from the joy in our hearts.

  6. Sorry about forgetting Linky--This post was ready several days ahead of time and I forgot to add linky last night. oops. Amy and Kim, I added your links right after I got Linky plugged in.

Barb, I love music too. All kinds of music. =]

Ginger, I agree! And someday, in Heaven, I'll have a beautiful voice and I'll be singing with the angels. =]

I am a singer, but I love to hear anyone in uninhibited worship! I agree with Ginger. I think God hears us all as little children, praising our hearts out.

  9. Great message, sweetie. So easy to go along with others - instead of believers. LalalaLA!

  10. Cool.
My hubby can't carry a tune in a bucket, either, but somehow he has wound up as the lead singer in a Christian heavy metal/thrash band with my sons.
God's looking for the joyful noise, IMO!
