Eight Random Things

Since this week has NOT gone according to plan (but really, when do they?!) I'm gonna kick back and have some fun...because I need some!

My dear friend Dee at My Heart's Dee-Light tagged me for 8 Random things, so here they are, in random order.

1.I'm addicted to smiley faces.

2.I hate noise, so I have three cats (well, four if you count the stray that we feed but don't claim), one touched-in-the-head dog, and five kids—all of whom love loud music, just like their dear dad. One of the best gifts Jim has ever given me was an mp3 player. I can put in my ear buds turn on Mozart and tune out the lunacy around me.

3.People live inside my head—making it very noisy in there, too! (waaaaaaa!)

4.I always have a secret junk food stash near at hand ...and it needs constant replenishing.

5.Once I translated a testimony into a history of my tormentor's, er, friend's love life. He turned three shades of red when he finally realized it was pay-back time for all the jokes he'd pulled on me. (but in my defense: I DID go back and translate correctly.)

6.I keep old shoe laces because we once tied together a Bronco's universal joint with my shoe lace...and made it up the mountain and safely home.

7.I learned to drive (yanno, real-life driving, not driver's ed driving) in a one-ton pick-up in down-town Chicago—complete with parking garages designed for compact cars. My truck's name was Burnt Sugar Pile 'cuz it was primer brown and very ugly—and it still is! (And that's her right there! -->)

8.I'm actually toying with the idea of sky diving. Operative words: toying with the idea.

Tagged by Books

My WONderful friends, Laury and Tracy BOTH tagged me (at different places) for this book meme, so I'm finally getting around to doing it. What can I say, life has been busy. I still don't have all my lesson assignments done for the kids, but I'm hoping to do the last of them right after posting this...

1. Do you remember how you developed a love for reading? Er, no. I just know there was always a book close to me!

2. What are some books you read as a child? Little house on the Prairie set!!

3. What is your favorite genre? Romance. *sigh* followed closely by chick lit.

4. Do you have a favorite novel? Only one? Not that I can pull off the top of my head.

5. Where do you usually read? Anywhere I can!

6. When do you usually read? Anytime I can, which hasn't been often enough recently!!

7. Do you usually have more than one book you are reading at a time? Yes.

8. Do you read nonfiction in a different way or place than you read fiction? I don't do nonfiction unless I have to, or it's a missionary story, or it's a book on writing. *eye roll* There for awhile I was reading nonfiction while on the glider and that worked GREAT. Now I need to rig a reading stand on my glider here at home and GET ON the glider!! *groan*

9. Do you buy most of the books you read, or borrow them, or check them out of the library? Yes! I'm a bargain hunter and I collect books. I am also a big supporter of our local library! (because keeping a family of 7—ALL of which are AVID readers, would require a boat-load of money, and I can think of other things to do with that boat load. LoL)

10. Do you keep most of the books you buy? If not, what do you do with them? Yes, we keep them because there's so many of us that will be reading it, and many of the books we buy qualify as 'school'. It's the best way for the kids to learn—when they're having fun reading and they don't realize they're doing school!! hehe.

11. If you have children, what are some of the favorite books you have shared with them? Were they some of the same ones you read as a child? Little House on the Prairie!

12. What are you reading now? Character and Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card. I'm between fiction books now. Grrrrr.

13. Do you keep a TBR (to be read) list? Nope. I just have a shelf for them, at least for the important ones. LoL

14. What’s next? Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell. For fiction? Sisterchicks—whichever one I can get my hands on!

15. What books would you like to reread? Isobel Kuhn's (missionary) books and Sisterchicks!

16. Who are your favorite authors? Lori Wick, Robin Jones Gunn, Francine Rivers, Stephen Bly..lots of others, but my mind is not in high gear and my books are currently packed because my oldest son moved into our library.

Ok, so now I get to tag two people. Eeny, meeny, meiny, mo...(did I spell those right? oh well...) Let's go with Bonnie, and my friend from Quito, Heather, who is a missionary in Madrid. Have fun, girls!

Ten Reasons I Blog

My dear, darling Laury of In My Daddy's Arms tagged me this morning, so now I have to figure out 10 reasons why I blog. Oh my.

The best reason I could come up with is that I'm bored and need something to do and blogging seemed like an easy no-brainer thing to do. (So not!) *phew* There's one. How many reasons do I need? Ten! *Yikes *

Blogging the nuggets God gives me is a good discipline for me.

I need the writing practice.

It's given me a focus—a theme-- to write to. (I'm a writing junkie if you haven't noticed. LoL)

I started blogging to keep in touch with family that's spread around the country. (a different blog)

Places that have accepted my stories asked if I have a link to include in my byline—so I obliged. *Grin *

It's encouraging to hear from people and to see that others visit my blog. It'd be even more encouraging if they'd say 'Hi'. LoL *pant, pant* How many is that?

It's making me learn more computer skills than I ever thought I'd need or even want. (It's been good mental exercise.)

I've met some wonderful new friends. *Hi Annette!*

Ummm...hehe.
So I can tell my kids I'm working on the computer and not just playing. *winkums*

*wipes sweat from forehead and leans on keyboard* That was hard work!

Now, to pass on the blessing I tag Laura and one of my best friends from high school, down in Ecuador, Heather in Madrid. Have fun ladies! (hehe. It's only 'cuz I love you!) *grin*
