If I Were, Take Two

Almost two years ago my cousin did this one Facebook and I did it here on my blog (see my original If I Were here). My near-and-dear friend, Joanne Sher, resurrected this last Friday and I think it's time for me to do this again, too.

If I were...

If I were a month, I’d be May, bursting with blooms after the rain.

If I were a day of the week, I’d be Sunday, relaxing with family after a soul-filling time of worship.

If I were a time of day, I’d be a moment of peace in the midst of the hustle.

If I were a planet, I’d be Saturn, wearing a halo. LoL.

If I were a sea animal, I’d be a Blue Tang like my animated hero Dory, encouraging people to just keep swimming.

If I were a direction, I’d be south with the palm trees.

If I were a piece of furniture, I'd be a rocking chair on the front porch.

If I were a liquid, I'd be lemonade, refreshing and sweetly tart.

If I were a gemstone, I'd be an opal, fire glistening from within.

If I were a tree, I’d be a palm tree sporting a hammock.

If I were a tool, I'd be a pen, writing my Owner's words.

If I were a flower, I'd be a dahlia, blooming where I was planted.

If I were a kind of weather, I’d be a gentle spring rain watering the earth.

If I were a musical instrument, I'd be a cello, mellow and deep.

If I were a color, I'd be rosey pink.

If I were an emotion, I’d be the peaceful glow from worship.

If I were a fruit, I’d be a grape, juicy and bursting with flavor.

If I were a sound, I’d be joyful praise to my Savior and Lord.

If I were an element, I’d be silver, refined to reflect my King.

If I were a car, a yellow VW bug with flowers painted on it.

If I were a food, I’d be chocolate chip cookies. 'nuf said.

If I were a place, I’d be a harbor cove.

If I were a fabric I'd be eyelet cotton. Comfy and cool.

If I were a taste, I’d be Mom's roast beef and gravy.

If I were a scent, I’d be fruity, not floral!

If I were an animal, I’d be a Golden Retriever, faithful and fun.

If I were an object, I'd be paper, waiting for words.

If I were a body part, I’d be fingers, ready and willing to work.

If I were a facial expression, I’d be a genuine smile.

If I were a pair of shoes, I’d be dancing shoes, fun with just a touch of sass.

If I Were

Awhile ago, a looooong while ago, my cousin posted this on her site. I intended to post right away, but it slipped through the cracks. Well, I found it. Finally. *eye roll* If you'd like to play along, swipe it and play. =)

If I Were...

If I were a month, I’d be May, bursting with buds and blossoms.

If I were a day of the week, I’d be Sunday and strolling in the sunshine after my snooze.

If I were a time of day, I’d be snack time with a tin of cookies close at hand.

If I were a "planet," I’d be Saturn with rings halos.

If I were a sea animal, I’d be a starfish, regenerating as needed.

If I were a direction, I’d be UP (who wants to be down?!)

If I were a piece of furniture, that recliner with the soft, snuggly throw across the arm.

If I were a liquid, I'd be grape koolaid, sweet and full-flavored.

If I were a gemstone, blue zircon, quiet color, flashing.

If I were a tree, I’d be a sugar maple, glowing in October's sun.

If I were a tool, I'd be a tote bag, ready to grab and go.

If I were a flower, the tiger lily growing wild, waving to all passers-by.

If I were a kind of weather, I’d be the sunny day, luring you out.

If I were a musical instrument, a cello, mellow and full.

If I were a color, the pink of a soft sunset.

If I were an emotion, I’d be peace, resting.

If I were a fruit, I’d be an apple--crisp and comforting.

If I were a sound, I’d the hush of the hillside, settling into your soul.

If I were an element, I’d be earth, grounded and growing.

If I were a car, a practical pick-up, with all the trims, easing the practicality.

If I were a food, I’d be french fries, hot, salty, irresistible.

If I were a place, I’d be a tuft of paramo grass high in the Andes, sheltering from the wind.

If I were a fabric I'd be a cozy flannel shirt, softened by the years.

If I were a taste, I’d be a chocolate mint, zippy, fresh, chocolate.

If I were a scent, I’d be mandarin, bright and ready to go.

If I were an animal, I’d be that great pyrennes or golden retriever, never leaving your side.

If I were an object, I'd be a deck chair, inviting you to rest and linger.

If I were a body part, I’d be lips, curling up on the sides.

If I were a facial expression, I’d be a smile, reaching out.

If I were a pair of shoes, I’d be the sneakers, ready to run and ready to lounge.

What would you be?

Paying it Forward Challenge

First, before I forget (and trust me, I forget a lot of things when I get excited, and I'm excited!!) Today I'm at Exemplify Online's Blog talking about white knuckles and praying. I'd love to have you join me there! (And feel free to leave a comment over there! Those are as good as tossing chocolate!)

Okay, now for the Paying it Forward Challenge!
I was visiting Larie at My Heart Speaks and I saw this challenge that she saw at one of her friends. I immediately had a gift idea come to mind (surprising, I know!), and I'm excited. I know how wonderful it was being on the receiving end of gifts (see my Blessings posts) and I cannot wait to participate in this and give a handmade gift (that I made) to others!

Here are the 'Paying it Forward Challenge' rules as posted on Larie's blog:

1. The first 3 bloggers to leave a comment letting me know they want to participate, will receive a hand-made gift from me.

2. Those 3 bloggers promise to post this challenge on their blog (meaning they too will ‘pay-it-forward’, creating a handmade gift for the first 3 bloggers that leave a comment on their blog!!)

The gift can be any price range--though I'm thinking that keeping it small will be sufficient--and you have 365 days to make/ship your gift!! (But I'm planning to get you your gift to you way before a year from now!)

If you want to participate, just leave a comment telling me so and then repost this on your blog so that you can pay it forward to 3 others, and so on, and so on, and so on.......You can still leave a comment on what you think about this even if you don't want to participate!!

And YES, I will send a handmade gift overseas.

This is one that I especially love—'Paying it forward' is something Jesus modeled for us and something He calls us to do. Because HE first loved us, we can love others. Isn't that just amazing? He first loved us!

So, there ya have it. I'll be making something for you, and mailing it to you as a gift, just cuz I love you! Let me know if you want to participate.

100 Days Left

Today starts the last 100 days of 2008. Some of us are real good about setting New Year's Resolutions, and some of us have given up on that because by February 1st we've long since forgotten about them. I happen to be one that does not make New Year's Resolutions, and especially not this last New Year's! (We were battling the flu, and if you've never been in a house with seven icky feeling people, flu kind of icks no less, then you've really missed out! Which is how we welcomed this year. Eeeeww!!) But that does not mean that I don't have goals for this year! I do! See, God has given me a tremendous gift and her name is Joanne, the owner of the biggest wet noodles you've ever seen! It reaches all the way from her house to mine and it's quite effective! She's used it to whip me several times, so I know what I'm talking about! (btw: thank you, JoDear! I'd probably still be moaning and groaning in my mud puddle if it weren't for you!)

So, today is the start of the 100 day countdown to the end of the year. I, personally, want to finish this year strong—much stronger than I started it. That means that I have some work to do. The finish line is in sight and I'm ready to pour on the power and get things wrapped up.

How about you? Do you have loose ends that are flapping in the breeze? Do you want to finish strong and tie up those loose ends? If you do, jump in and join me in this 100 day challenge. We can encourage each other and cheer each other on.
